Protests against the far right in Germany drew hundreds of thousands of people in total, with approximately 100,000 people in Munich and tens of thousands in Cologne and Berlin.
The protests were sparked by a report of a far-right meeting discussing the deportation of millions of immigrants, with members of the far-right Alternative for Germany party present at the meeting.
The large turnout at the protests indicates a growing popular opposition to the AfD, which is currently polling at second place nationally and leading in its eastern strongholds. [ more ]
