88 arrests made in 7-month Bay Area retail theft operation
A video shared on social media Monday shows a police pursuit outside a San Mateo Target store that was part of a larger retail theft operation by three San Francisco Bay Area cities that has resulted in 88 arrests, law enforcement said Monday.

Jerami Surratt, a spokesperson for the San Mateo Police Department, told SFGATE on Tuesday that the video shows officers from departments in all three cities chasing after a man accused of shoplifting at the Target at Bridgepointe Shopping Center on March 14.

In seven months, in addition to making the arrests, the group has responded to 82 crimes, recovered 719 items with a total value of $23,521, and seized two weapons, according to a news release.
