New fusarium head blight risk mapping tool launched for Prairie farmers
Briefly

The risk algorithms were developed based on research data collected across Western Canada from 2019 through 2021, enabling accurate risk assessment for spring wheat, winter wheat, barley, and durum.
Previous risk mapping tools lacked accuracy testing and couldn't assess risk for barley or durum specifically. The new tool is easily accessible through various devices and provides consistent risk assessment across the three provinces.
The three-year research project behind the risk mapping tool was led by the University of Manitoba and involved collaboration with various agriculture ministries, associations, and research institutions in Western Canada.
Funding for the project came from the Canadian Agriculture Partnership, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Western Grains Research Foundation, and other key organizations in the agricultural sector.
