MLB End-of-April Check-in: NL Central
Briefly

Is William Contreras the next superstar catcher to come out of the National League? Now in his third season as an everyday catcher, he began play on Wednesday slashing an absurd .348/.426/.545, good for a 173 wRC+. Despite missing Christian Yelich, who has been out with a back injury since April 13th, the Brewers boast one of the most prolific offenses in the Senior Circuit.
A whopping five healthy players had a wRC+ 120 or above in April - and that's with top prospect Jackson Chourio still finding his footing at the plate. Shout out as well to former Yankee catcher Gary Sánchez, who has been thriving in his part-time role as a designated hitter, backup catcher, and bat off the bench.
