In the now three-year battle with illegal Mission Street vending, the city's latest solution has been to ban vending outright on Mission Street but allow legal vendors two alternative spots. One of these, El Tiangue, is now facing closure due to lack of foot traffic.
Majority of business for legal vendors like Dona Hilda comes from foot traffic on Mission Street; revenue has dropped significantly at legal space, contrasting with illegal vendors doing better on the street.
