Simon Ricci, 26 from San Francisco, took the lead early in the Big Sur Marathon and maintained his place, finishing first.
The 38th running of the Big Sur Marathon had a revised course due to a portion of Highway 1 sliding into the ocean, starting and finishing at Crossroads in Carmel.
Ricci described the course as challenging with hilly sections and headwinds, particularly noting the winds hitting runners on the turnaround, despite the absence of Hurricane Point.
