Big Sur International Marathon: First timers Ricci and Bilo bring home titles

Simon Ricci won the Big Sur International Marathon men's title, despite mistakenly chasing a relay runner with fresh legs. The course was revamped this year due to Highway 1 sliding into the ocean, featuring a scenic route starting and finishing in Carmel. Ricci described the challenging course with hills and winds, while still finding it beautiful.
Peyton Bilo was the sole woman to complete the marathon in under three hours in her debut race. The revised course of the Big Sur International Marathon left out the iconic Hurricane Point but still included challenging hilly sections with strong headwinds, making the race demanding despite the absence of certain traditional elements.
