Marlies Mejias Garcia won stage 2 of the Tour of the Gila, replicating her victory from the previous year, outpacing Yanina Kuskova and race leader Lauren Stephens in a bunch sprint, retaining the red jersey.
The stage saw Anet Barrera, Cécile Lejeune, Yanina Kuskova, and Emily Erlich go on the attack, with Elizabeth Dixon staging a late solo attack before being caught just 3km from the finish.
The route for the elite women's Inner Loop Road Race included challenging terrain, crossing the Continental Divide twice, with multiple climbs and sprints along the 74.1 miles course.
