A Tennessee-based sanitation company was fined over $649,000 after illegally employing children, including as young as 13, in meatpacking facilities using hazardous materials and equipment.
Despite laws prohibiting hiring minors for hazardous work, thousands of migrant children still come to the U.S. and work in dangerous jobs, like in meatpacking plants, leading to exploitation and endangerment.
