The invisible lives and deaths of the children of sex workers
Briefly

Many sex workers like Uloma have faced child mortality issues with little to no access to proper healthcare. The lack of data and attention on this population has resulted in unregistered births and deaths, leaving these children to be virtually non-existent on paper.
Dr. Wendy Macias-Konstantopoulos highlighted the neglect of sex workers' children in research, with a focus on HIV studies among female sex workers instead. This disparity has led to a lack of understanding of the health challenges faced by these vulnerable children.
Efforts are being made to address this gap, with initiatives such as the study on child mortality causes and a program in Nigeria targeting pregnant sex workers and their children. Global Health Promise is actively involved in advocating for the healthcare needs of these marginalized groups.
